Heavy duty engine stand recomendations
Hey guys,

I am looking for a heavy duty engine stand. I have looked at all of the stands on ebay but am not sure about the quality when I look at joints / weak points.

I have a 71 Big Block 429 Cobrajet engine that needs to come out of my AC Cobra for a few enhancements. It weighs around 670 pounds. It will need to be on the stand for at least 12 months so I need something strong, that ideally has wheels and ideally where I can turn the engine to work on the crank.

Any help / guidance would be appreciated. 2007 Defender 90 XS

I have got one which came from machine mart , have used it for tractor engines and the re- build of my series Land Rover engine . Can rotate it through 360' and is one of the heavy duty ones in their range. Comes with different mounting brackets ,but may need packing out with some washers .
Good well built piece of kit.
Nick.

How are you with a welder? Even buying the steel from an online place such as the metal store will probably work out cheaper.

I only suggest this because I've managed to find a source of free offcuts. What they classify as offcuts has intact enabled me to build a 5ft 20t hydraulic press for nothing more than some time and buying a bottle jack... Ed

@Nick, many thanks for the input. I have looked at them but remain a little wary (perhaps necessarily) as to whether it would fit the bill. the sheer weight and width of the engine is what worries me.

@sako243, yes I am OK with welding - over the course of yesterday afternoon I convinced myself that that was probably the best route to go down.

Thanks for help / guidance. Appreciated. 2007 Defender 90 XS

I have heard good things about this firm, though I have no direct first-hand experience:-
