i think you leave the crush tube!. mark the nut and count how many turns to get it off. then when you re-tighten, turn it same number of time and that should be it.

This of course assumes that the curent 'nut' was put back in place correctly !
I have a lot of free play before the rear diff moves any rear wheel..... |

If you are unsure, it might well be worth replacing the crush tube and torqueing the nut according to the workshop manual procedure.
That way you wont end up reassembling it to match previous other mistakes. I have never seen a Salisbury diff which did not have quite a substantial amount of backlash however. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |
