Hi, can anyone tell me whether it is possible to use the genuine TDCi switches in a Td5. The backs of the switches appear to use a generic connector so will need to look into this.
I'm looking to use the TDCi rear fog light and heated rear screen switches attached to the present wiring by your right knee which will be moved to the centre console. the rear wash and wiper buttons again using existing wiring from the combo switch on the dash the electric window switches using an aftermarket electric kit from eBay. I think I have a mobile centre wiring kit for the heated windscreen but want to use the original switch rather than the carling version. I might be able to ask this direct to mobilecentre as seen on here posting. I'm fitting new genuine LR seats so should be able to wire in original heated seat wiring loom and switches which I'm getting from LRI along with the seats. Headlamp levelling should be straightforward as wiring already present between dash and lights, just need various parts. Any advice gratefully received before I go and waste my money on switches! my understanding is that the Td5 and TDCi switches are just flipped 90 degrees in shape. Did you have to get rear connectors to fit the switches? Thanks for reply |

Lancerdoc999,
why not stick a picture of your two consoles side by side and see if anyone can get some inspiration to help you. Electrically anything is possible, you can make any switch work, it's just that some will require more work than others. Click image to enlarge This is my Mud Console (in a 95 300Tdi). The screen is for a reversing camera which is fitted beside the rear wash jet and turned on by the black carling switch on the left. The red switch does the rear work light and the right hand one is the rear wash wipe. The setup is about to change a bit as the right hand aux socket is going to become a voltmeter and small toggle switch when the twin bateries finally go in. I have three additional sockets on the mud tunnel tray, 1 on the front of the passenger seat box and a dual under the second row. There are also 2 double USB sockets one on the passenger seat box and one in a mud cubby panel with the heated seat switches (when the dual batteries and wiring goes in). 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. So phase 1 of my console plans done. Take one MUD console and one TDCI console and chop it up a bit!
Parts need trimming and tidying up then gluing in place on the MUD console. Might try and use the left over top row somehow and even the clock holder as have bought a clock from LRI. Slight snagging point is that the angle of the radio which has a foldout screen will stop me from putting switches higher up on the front. Hadn't considered this when planning a two row switch layout. Plan to use a 7-gang insert for 7 carling switches alongside as many genuine ones as I can fit. Isn't that layout almost a late td5 dash? Ray

yes, it is very similar! I would need to source the different insert and the front fascia but seeing as I have the two dashes going to try and mod it to my liking.
