He did my TD5 about 3 weeks ago. Completely agree, good guy. Its was running about 70-75 flat-out..Now runs to 90, but the good thing is that it droned at 70, If I take it to 75, the drone disappears and it cruses on the motorway more comfortably, which is exactly what I wanted. Was considering the Ashcroft transfer box gear change, but dont think I need it now.

I have had the transfer box ratio change as we do an annual trip to Belarus and the 110 was revving it's little nuts off the first time we did it. Had the ratio change done and Mike remapped it to put the torque back so it now accelerates nicely AND cruises easily at 70 and more without your ears bleeding. It's the only mod that the other half has approved of. If you regularly do long trips I'd say the ratio change is well worth it. |

Thanks for that. Don't do many long journeys but going to Le Mans in it in a couple of months. Will make a decision after that.

I'd be interested to hear what the mpg does.

On my TD5 I am getting a pretty consistent high 27 mpg compared to about 25 mpg before. With it very fully loaded last year on motorway runs on holiday it was doing 28mpg cruising at 75-80mph (abroad, not in the UK). If you are thinking of a remap for an improved fuel economy, then don't bother (even though it does improve a bit). If you want to do it to make the vehicle what it should always have been, then go ahead. |
