Sand & Goodyear MTR's
Ferry booked for Portugal next year & lots to buy for the 110 before we go(fox wing / split charge ect) Question is' is a bog standard Goodyear MTR on Boost alloy(235/85/R16) going to be any good for sandy terrain? Or is it going to be something like a BFG AT with a wider tread pattern( keeping the original Boost rims)? The 110 has a Warn 9.5cti on the front which helps.....

Its all about the tyre pressure and the ability to deflate and re-inflate when necessary. Types of tyre will perform differently with All Terrain properly performing best across all surfaces, look for a tyre with a sidewall pattern, this will help in certain scenarios. Best to choose a tyre that you can also purchase locally just in case.

When I went to Portugal this year the biggest problem was mud and water Laughing
As Panda says, tyre pressure is the biggest thing. I doubt you'll have problems with mud tyres, it's not like you're going dune bashing (are you?).

Before buying all the stuff people say you need, do give some thought as to whether you do actually need them. I've had a lot of good experiences without all the "stuff", although I have since sorted myself out with an awning and fridge. It's possible to go on an extended trip (many weeks) without a fridge or anything, I know because I have.

Thanks for both the replys, been reading about tyre pressures on a lot of the 4 x 4 forums. I have ridden off road for years but the 110 is a whole new board game to me. With bikes there are brilliant tyres & some you wouldn't ever bother putting on if they were free, just trying to see if what we have are useable ( if not they will have to be replaced) Not doing any dune bashing just some quality time off road for a few weeks with my wife & a few sweet sherries as it were..
Have an ARB fridge & will have a foxwing by the time we go..

Interesting watch that, ours gets used in deep mud & looking at the pros and cons might be going mud terrain rather than all terrain when they need changing. Thanks for posting..
