It's worth remembering that that 'developing country's' GDP is $2trillion yet they spent "only" 0.15% hosting the games. If they can't organise the distribution of wealth, reduce corruption, control police violence etc etc with the remaining 99.85% of their economy, then what was spent on the Olympcs is immaterial. My last girlfriend was Brazilian and she fully appreciated what the country has to offer, it's natural resources and riches, but it was corruption and inequality that was ruining the country, not lack of funds. Further, countries outside of the usual few have to be given a chance to promote themselves on the world stage, in sports as much as any other field, and not just keep the games amongst the rich, westernised nations with no others ever allowed to benefit from the exposure, the infrastructure and development. Just my opinion of course... Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Fair enough, but if they have all that money why is there such a hoo ha over the funds around the para Olympics and why is that being blamed on a dip in their economy and not the corruption? I'm not saying you are wrong but it does all seem just a little bit odd , thats all. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.
