Could it be the selector gate? I don't know how that would be remedied by switching off and on again (that sounds more like a classic IT solution ).
There have been issues with the clutch release springs failing - it could be related. The dealers should know about that though and I would have thought they would have checked it first (a classic symptom is rattling when you turn it off). One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Switching it off would stop the engine load - so clutch? Mike

I know it seems weird but when your stuck in traffick in an African city in the rush hour its been the only remedy.
OK well thanks it seems there are a couple of problems I think the selectorgate has come lose and the hand break cable and moderator need adjusting. Will let you know how I get on. Does anyone know of a decent Landrover Puma maintenance manual, Haines don't seem to do one? |

Well its now confirmed its the clutch which has gone after 12 months, rubbish. I have ordered another but I'm really unimpressed I have driven really knackered Defenders in Yemen, Iraq and Bangladesh and they still keep going after real abuse and this 09 Defender has had it relatively easy! Very disappointing.

Apart from my other problems, my 110 is going in to the dealers for a new clutch as well.

Please let us know when the autopsy is finished. Ask the guys to show you the knackered friction plate (LR or Ford) Puma 110" SW
