These are not commonplace in the UK. UK spec trailer brakes are mechanical rather than electrical, which is the standard fitment in the USA. You would be better to try the American forums for a fitting guide unless you have the wiring diagram for the unit, then I'm sure some one on here will come along and help Thumbs Up

Thanks lorry,

The diagram said the following:

Red: to the stop signal with a 20A fuse
Black: to the Battery possitive with a 25A fuse
White: to the chassis ground
Blue: to the trailers brake (pin 7 in the US system)

Main problem is: In the 12N plug the pin assignation is as follows that differs from the american system

1.- Turn left
2.- Fog lamps
3.- Ground
4.- Turn rigth
5.- Position lights left
6.- Brake ligths
7.- Position ligths rigth

American system is

1.- Ground
2.- Position ligths
3.- Turn right and brake
4.- Reverse
5.- Turn left and brake
6.- 12 V battery power
7.- Electric Brakes

What shall I do?
Looks that the best alternative is a direct connectios Sad Eduardo

Do you also have a 12s plug? If so use one of the 2 spare pins, no 5 (brown) and no 7 (black) that way you have a permanent solution!

UK spec Trailer plug wiring:

'N' type

Yellow :- L/H indicator
Blue :- Fog light
White :- Earth
Green :- R/H indicator
Brown :- R/H tail / side light
Red :- Brake lights
Black :- L/H tial / side light

'S' Type

Yellow :- Reversing Light
Blue :- Ignition 12V supply
White:- Earth
Green :- Continuous 12V supply
Brown :- Spare
Red :- Fridge
Black :- Spare

The only other option I can see is to disconnect the fog light and use this connection on the 12n plug as the fog light is the least used!

Thanks Brian,

I have the 12S, so probably I will use one of the spares.
Main problem is to have a trailer that is not standard in the brake system Sad

Cheers. Eduardo

can't you just make up a short adaptor lead with Male one end and female the other that switches over the pins and takes your feed through for the electronic control box? Cheers

Yes I can do that but with 3 plugs the thing will look like a space connection module of the orbiting station, and the probablitoty to forget to connect the plug will be higher.

Thanks again for the recomendations Eduardo

The wire Eduardo is concerned about is the feed from the vehicle mounted accelerometer to the brake module on the trailer which controls the braking force applied to the trailer brakes.

Well

Finally and due a bad installation of the 12S socket (I cannot take out the socket and only the fridge was connected Evil or Very Mad ) I use a 3rd standard american plug to wiring the brake control, the 12V for the battery and the reverse light.

By the way, the electric brake control requires at least 10AWG wiring

Cheers Eduardo
