A blocked dump valve on the air intake was the culprit. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

At one point he got out whilst it was rolling with no driver at all. No handbrake no nothing.
Good way to get your own self ran over. ![]() |

I noticed that too, right next to it wasn't he.
Would be worse if it was a Kinetic rope though. Ironically a Kinetic rope would have been more suitable for that recovery. |

I've always been surprised that more folk don't carry kinetic ropes - they take so much stress out of chassis etc during normal recovery and are then invaluable when you come across an idiot

I don't carry one only a regular webbing one, then again I don't intend to be doing recovery once was enough!
This is the best yet for obvious reasons ![]() |

Sad to say, regarding the original video, that's pretty typical of the sort of recoveries carried out at that site, It's not unusual for the recovery process to do more damage to the vehicles than the original incident. It's the worst kind of "pay and play" although they don't actually pay if it's the site I think it is. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Davew, I think that it is the quarry close to us which is an illegal site and that the commentator was the infamous Tommy who has a habit of destroying vehicles ets. Apart from the lack of respect for what appears to be a steel winch rope have alook at the non existentent stretch in the 'strap' used in the snatch recovery. Chances are that with the lack of stretch in that strap it is a polyester strap with minimal stretch which means higher peak forces. i.e. more chances of things going wrong. IF people want to learn how NOT to recover a vehicle just search for Tommy and Flappit Quarry. Then try to find the one thing they do correctly. Brendan |
