Just my 2 penny's worth - always thought theses are a good idea, no idea re the engineering quality of the two options but I think the second one looks a lot neater, those hinges on the first may look ok on a series but on a defender?
I've semi converted mine by taking the rear seats out and am thinking of putting these on the windows but, of course, no access from the sides: http://www.mobilestoragesystems.net/windowguards.html Chris 2010 Defender 110 Station Wagon, Santorini Black. |

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply. Looking at window grilles was exactly how I started venturing down this path and is definitely still an option. I haven't totally done my homework yet but I'm hoping by adding solid/gulwing sides and removing the rear seats as you've done, will also enable me to reclassify the vehicle from being a car to a commercial vehicle on my V5 to save money annually on tax as a bonus. (perhaps a question for another thread...) I agree with you that the second option definitely looks neater without the hinges on show, however they would come from a less established company which worries me a little. Nice one g-mack, thanks for the link, they do look good. I notice that the frames on the ones you've suggested are also actually the shape of the original window frame, i.e no cutting of the bodywork would probably be required, unlike on the two options I previously found. That would more than justify the extra money if that is indeed the case... I'll be sure to check them out. Thanks. Dan. |

You cannot change a vehicle built as a passenger vehicle into a commercial one as far as tax is concerned. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/eimanual/EIM23115.htm |

The second ones in the original picture are actually just marked up versions of the ones from here.
http://www.transportwindows.co.uk/index.ph...amp;p=ecom I bought 2 that fitted perfectly. They can add second locks if you want or make them to size. Hope this helps as was passed onto me and saved me a bit ![]() ![]() |

B&M = Brian Morley, he has been in the commercial vehicle body building trade for years. Out of curiosity I had a quick look at the ones he has fitted to his own Defender [pictured] while I was over there on other business, while not an in depth look they looked good. Steve.

Im wanting to order a set of doors to replace the rear windows in my 110 '06 TD5 Defender.
I like the look of the Transport Windows ones.... Does anyone know the size of the aperture in the 110 once the window has been removed. (It looks like it will take 10 days to order and receive the doors, don't fancy not having any rear windows for that long) many thanks Ross |
