This or certainly anything that fits into that class such as Triumph Tiger or Honda Africa Twin will certainly meet your requirements for "more of a sit up and beg...eye catching...comfort, less strain on the torso and enjoyment rather than a licence loser."

If you must go for a Harley why not get the "Land Rover" of motorbikes.

Picked up a couple of these from Withams a few years back. Bullet proof, looks the business and you can take off road.

I was looking back at my younger days and remebering my time I was bike mad when reading this tread ...
I had a few bikes over the years and loved them all for diffrent reasons - the XS750 was a mile eater, but the best bike I owend was a 900 SS MHR Ducati .... I used to ride from Devizes in Wiltshire to the Macrahanish Mull of Kintire and back every week for 6 mths ... it ate the back tires and swinging arm bearings .. but what a machine !!
it needed the desmos setting every 2 months - so not a cheep thing to run - but loved it at the time.

http://www.ducati.ch/de/history/70er_jahre/900_mhr/22/index.do

never want to get another bike - I'd be a liability on the road nowadays !

I am a Triumph nut, and love the new Tiger. However, given most of these spec bikes never see a dirt track, let alone desert in their life (and if I had one it would be for work/touring) the more sporty and road biased Ducati Multistrada is where my money would be spent. Looks great too....

The deed is done. Tricked up ex demo with 1000 miles on the clock. 1200 Sportster 2016 Forty Eight black, Vance and Hines shortshots and Screaming Eagle stage 1 tune, straight bars all in black with lowered adjustable rear shocks.
Saved a packet against new to the same specification, was second in line but initial purchaser's deal fell through as deal was dependent on sale of Fat Boy which didn't yield as much as was expected. His loss my gain!

Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

I had to laugh when I read the first post because I too have just watched SOA (on Netflix) and I'm on the penultimate episode and despite having never ridden a bike, starting hatching a plan to take my test and get a bike for my 50th next year.

Being a chunky kind of bloke, but not wanting to be obvious and go HD route, this would be my preferred stead:
