Wondered if anyone more local to the area had any additional info about this? BBC article very vague as always
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-34378300 That being said, what the hell were 4 people doing on a quad on the public road anyway. An unregistered/uninsured quad at that.. How do you even get 4 people onto a quad safely?? If the available details didn't contradict it, you would think it was 4 pikeys messing around.. Last edited by need4speed on 28th Sep 2015 2:57pm. It is believed that one of the persons who died one was a sixteen year old girl celebrating her birthday one other woman, aged 18 also died, and a 20-year-old man also died at the scene, a second 20-year-old man was taken to hospital with critical injuries to his head and body but later died.
According to the police the quad bike was an unregistered, agricultural vehicle. Most quad bikes cannot legally be driven on road because they do not meet the requirements for tyres, lights, horn and speedometer. A witness a Local farmer, Ben Kidson, has said he was in bed in his static caravan when the incident happened. He said he was kept awake by the sound of “an engine” going up and down the road, “but then it all went quiet”. The driver and passenger of a bronze-coloured Nissan 350Z which hit the quad bike from behind are being held on suspicion of dangerous driving. I also have to wonder why four people were on the quad bike at once. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

Nasty incident. Possibly no rear lights if it wasn't road registered, hence the collision.
I can't conceive that the 'quad' was anything other than a Mule / Gator / Ranger type side-by-side utility vehicle, which would be likely classified as a quad with DVLA. Two or three in the front, remainder sitting in the load bed. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk 110 TD5 BuildHERE - sold! 110 Tdci Build HERE - sold! Hard to tell from the mangled wreckage but I have to agree looks like a standard Quad bike to me. What sort of speed the Nissan was travelling at beggars’ belief to do that much damage. A shocking loss of life ..
I do feel sorry for the driver of the 370z as i bet the quad was being ragged up and down the road in the dark with no lights .. He gets the blame when it was down to the muppet driving the quad . |

That's the 1st I've seen that pic.. From that it looks like all were guilty. From that pic it definately looks like the Nissan was doing more than 60. Unless the quad was stationary when it hit - which I doubt.
Looks like a 50/50. The Nissan looks like it was speeding but the quad shouldn't have been on the road to begin with... |

A catalogue of errors which we are in no position to comment on without all the facts .
NB. A quad bike (agricultural) is designed to carry one operator only. The three others were possibly sitting on front and rear racks and maybe on the seat as well, making it difficult to steer and control, especially in an emergency. |

I agree 100%. The trouble is 99 times out of 100 we never get all the facts so are forced to draw our own conclusions based on the information given to us..

If that was a non road-legal quad on the road in the middle of the night and with four passengers, I'd be on the side of the car driver assuming they were doing things by the book.
I've come extremely close to squishing a completely unlit bicycle in the dark at night. Even driving at what would normally be considered safe speeds I was far too close for comfort when I finally saw it. Anyway, I'm sure it will all come out in the wash, but terrible for the families and friends of those involved. What would you even be doing at midnight on a quad? I could understand it if they were a keeper, farmer or nicking it but recreationally? |

Terrible loss. But you only have to see the motor cross bikes and quads up and down my road flat out to realise that it's an accident waiting to happen. Then it's gonna be xyz was a wonderful kid with it all in front of him till the car pulled out on him and he was killed.
Never mind he has been wheeling down the road at probably the best part of 60 with kids playing out regularly. It happened here a few years back, 2 scals on a stolen bike knocked off by a taxi. My best mate was the paramedic first on the scene. Trying to move the body he put his hand through the hole in the back of the lads skull. My mate has never really got over it. Dunno about the taxi driver 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car) 2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |

A couple of my biking mates have road legal quads, they are equipped to carry 2 people, not 4. The rear rack shown in the pic does look like the one these guys have on their quads.
Whatever the outcome of this its a sad loss of 4 lives and life changing for the 2 in the car, guilty or innocent! |
