[Sold] My 1998 TD5 90
Hi all, it's time to sell my TD5 that I've had for about 4 years to part fund the new one, which is coming in October.
It has just over 100k miles, is a genuine 90 7 seat County SW, I am the third owner
It's recently had a new battery.
The only changes I’ve made are to fit NAS lights front and rear, side steps and a swing away spare wheel carrier.
MOT is until October, I don’t have a service history but do have most MOT’s from about 50k miles and a sheaf of previous bills.
It has 4 nearly new BFG tyres (3000 miles or so), and the spare is a mud plugger.
Interior is very clean.
Bulkhead is sound.
It looks great, always starts first time, drives well, all things work and is unmolested.

Full disclosure & honesty time:
When I bought it there was a full length steel roofrack, which I took off and it has some paint scuffs where the rack had been fitted.
It does use some oil and smokes a bit when cold in the winter for a hundred yards, but drives well with a bit of steering vagueness (as usual).
It has the original radio cassette but it only gets radio 5, the cassette player only does Led Zep, and most of the buttons have stopped working Rolling with laughter
The wipers don’t self park.
The drivers seat is feeling a bit thin, has a bit of loose stitching and I think could do with new foam and trim.
The is a bit of surface bubbling around the upper doors both sides and on the rear
The rear door is rusty at the inside bottom edge and the rear crossmember has two small patches at last MOT.
The rear corner steel capings are a bit rusty in places and could do with sanding down and re-painting as it’s surface rust
I have a new rear door in primer but haven't got round to fitting it - included

See a few pics, and I have more that I can email if you PM me.

I'm asking £5,950 which I think is fair given that a bit of tidying is needed.

Thanks for looking Smile

I'm not accusing anyone of anything, merely trying to clear up something I thought I knew but now question. I though genuine CSW's didn't have a bulkhead separating the tub and the front seats and had a front centre cubby box instead of a middle seat?

I know mine is a SW conversion and has the centre seat instead of cubby, and a bulkhead in the rear but assumed these were leftover from the conversion. Is that actually the wrong way round? Mine is also a 300Tdi and not a TD5 so not sure if they changed them between models?

Again not making any accusations, just trying to clear up my own thoughts. Looks like a lovely truck! Thumbs Up

@sgilmour The bulkhead removal bar became standard on 90 SW's when the Td5 'facelift' came in (2002?). Td5's before that point were still based on the 300 tdi, so all variants still had the bulkhead behind the front seats. Any factory SW/CSW prior to the 2002 facelift/refresh has the bulkhead (including your 300 Tdi). So your 300 tdi may well be a factory station wagon. Usual giveaways of HT conversions are aftermarket rear seats (not genuine), aftermarket side sliding windows (not genuine) and sometimes lack of rear trim around the windows. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

@ Green machine thanks for cleaning that up for me, I did not know that there was that difference between the previous and post '02 TD5's.

Mine is definitely a conversion, I can see the original green paint under the blue and have the brackets for a soft top on the side of the tub. Wish it was a factory SW, would be wort a lot more! Laughing

Also I believe only genuine SWs had a high level brake light on the rear door. Conversions won't.

Not necessarily, mine is a genuine County Station Wagon and has never had a high level brake light. I don't think they were fitted until late 300tdi early Td5 Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Sale suspended due to a mechanical !
Apologies for those interested, but just went to start the young girl and it spins over nicely but won't start - I suspect the fuel pump as I can't hear it. Whistle
Anyway I need to pause on the sale and I'm getting it looked at - normal service will resume hopefully next week sometime.
Interested buyers - thanks for your patience. Bow down
