insurance wise, i started with a 90 at 18, it was ridiculously expensive...
this year in which i was 21 when paid was about £700, this included disclosing the engine upgrades, brake, suspension and interior upgrades.. this was an admiral multi car with one other car on the policy, we are adding 9 cars to the multi car policy this year so it should hopefully drop again. |

Nothing wrong with a Defender for a twenty year old I bought my first Land Rover a series two, when I was nineteen and forty two years later having gone through all the series, 90's and Defenders I am still driving them. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Great choice - I think lots of us can relate to your story. I'm 24 and bought mine at 21, having been around them all my life on the farm.
Your new 2016 is a bit posher than my '96 300tdi though! Love the colour. |

Thought those HD rims in white looked rather good with the grey body - what colour are you having them re-painted?

An update of sorts, both the sidesteps and the wheels removed with minimal fuss. I've elected to keep all the bits I remove rather than eBay them, given the cost to replace should I want to return it all to standard.
Click image to enlarge Wheels are going to be Scotia Grey, same as the rest of the car. Again, not the most obvious choice, but I think given that its a reasonably light, inoffensive colour, it should come off well. Colour coding wheels works on Range Rover Classics, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it suits the Defender. Also sorted out a 'Best 4x4xFar' sticker to go in the back window. Underestimated how large they are, seems that it may obscure whats little view you get out of the rear |
