Had to grind my standard adaptor off to get it to fit. Top tip from 'Noworries4x4' is to grind two flats instead of all the way round. This will ensure the adaptor will not disintegrate after time.

Alternatively unbolt the propshaft so that you can articulate the joints and do the job properly!

Ground the end of my grease gun down on two sides, now it fits nicely between the yokes of the props.

Buy a decent prop shaft. That's what I did.

Andy, what prop did you fit? I am curious as I am about to order a front and rear from Gwyn Lewis. http://www.gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/puma...rop-shaft/ http://www.gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/puma...l-ext-665/ |

Use a rubber extension tube on the grease gun so you can grease the uj nipple in diffirent postion so the yoke is openned up

I've tried to grease the nipples (????) while the shaft (??????) was still on the car... Far better, and easier to take the props off, and do it on the bench... Plus it's easier to clean the gunk off.... ... ,-------,

I brought a pair of bailey Morris extreme props, direct from bailey Morris. About £500 for the pair, with a pair of spare UJ's. Very nice quality all made for me and took 3 days. Neither of my original props had grease nipples on the slider section, the rear prop had tiny UJ's that were very difficult to access, and the front UJ's had the grease nipple in the Center of the UJ not between the pivots, so was a remove to grease job, and complete ball ache. Very happy now, and like the idea of same UJ on all joints.
So if anybody wants original props let me know. Andy |

To be honest I've never really had much of a problem greasing the props on any of the Land Rovers I've owned or worked on, yes I can see that people do have problems but by jacking a wheel up so you can turn the prop and by using a grease gun with a flexible tube. By having the nipple access at the top at the transfer box end and at the bottom at the axle end you have opened the yoke so the end of the grease gun can get in. I don't use any fancy grease gun, just the one I've had for years with a good quality end, I'm sure that the sprung "jaws" are split into four.
A lot of the problems with grease guns not latching on properly are due to grit or foreign objects in the end stopping the end from snapping on fully. |

I never had any problem till I had the tdci. They are worse than any others I've greased.
