the casing has a small drain hole one end (which could be sealed easily ) but has a large hole at the top where some of the gear linkage is ( not easy to seal ) , also would need filler hole adding

it could be done by fitting a baffle above the splined joint , but welding a baffle plate in might distort the casing

Australia 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Baltic Blue
I drilled a 13 mm hole in the gearbox extension housing to insert a camera probe to look at the spline,
No rust was seen but the splines appeared to be dry no visible grease in the inside of the housing could be seen,
I sprayed some Teflon motorcycle chain lube on the splines and hopefully there is enough lubricant on them to lubricate the splines.
I might buy a spare shaft assembly too keep as a spare just in case.
Has anyone here bought a OEM one as opposed to the Ashcroft modified one, how much for the OEM?

trouble with spraying anything in there on to the coupling is there is a plastic cover over a sort of rubber seal , so would need good soaking lots of times for any chance of oil/grease to get at actual spline part

New Zealand 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
My 2010 110 station wagon failed at 50000km in 2013, dealer fixed under warranty, assurred me that it was lack of grease and they had well greased it this time.
Failed again today with little warning at 140,000km, looking to get an indie to carry out work. Has oem parts been updated at all?
