Hey thanks...
You know CFB, it's a strange thing, I didn't fancy the steels at first, thinking they were 'orright' but then just before they came off I started to imagine them with 265s, I thought hang on... but then they were gone... If i had a white contrast roof though, like this road warrior over here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic35647.html no question, steel would have been the real deal. GypsySamant's got me thinking about names - traditionally speaking, do most people name their vehicles or is that just mostly an overlanding thing? Also, when to do it, at first sight or after your first 1k. |

Cheers TJ
Roz Dev! I reckon ours will be cousins when this is done. I thought the front was definitely higher too but apparently it's a case of a mild slope and the shadows - The trick i was told was to measure from the top of the wheel to the bottom of the fender. How you getting on with yours? Shaggy, one of the reasons for me getting this (other than it's a brilliant vehicle for purpose) was the learning i wanted to come about by it.. that one day I could take to reworking it like a duck to water, kudos on your restoration journey, hope it turns out better than you got it. |

Guards Guards!! Seize that vehicle!
This for me is definitely an area where prevention is better than cure. The vehicle is lifted by about an inch but the going is going to be fair to rough and changeable. If the underneath is going to take hits it better have some armour on. So... The Diff Guard Click image to enlarge Fuel Cooler guard. Click image to enlarge Steering guard Click image to enlarge The Tank guard Click image to enlarge Overly curious person guard.. AKA privacy glass Click image to enlarge Side Steps.. Me: Flatdog can you do these for me in full matte black? Flatdog: Course we can. And so these are coming back in powder coated black. Just an ever increasing big thank you to the team at Flatdog. They have been detailed, patient, tenacious and thorough on the build. We'll see how it goes when the driving is done but as far as putting the vehicle together on my spec, there's nothing they haven't done well. Click image to enlarge Front Mud flaps Click image to enlarge Also going on were shocks, springs and steering damper. The shocks are Old Man Emu Nitrocharger matched with Flatdog springs, the damper is OME too. Other contenders were Koni Heavy track raid and Blistens which I heard are really good. Not sure how one would go about making a selection without having tried them other than by recommendation.. and how many people have tried a variety.. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Finally a Mantec swingaway Click image to enlarge Later this week.. we round up the electrics in the vehicle, put in one or two specialised items, comfort and cosmetic finishings... some engine work and then... the grand unveiling.. The Evolution continues... |

you should have fitted a RTC steering damper , i did and its helps with big rubber on it ...... and you must fit a full led side lights and indicators and brake/ fog/ reverse .. full kits and easy to fit......

Hello from another Keswick owner.
I see that you have chequer plate on the wing tops, I'd suggest the same on your sills, to at least protect the paint, when getting in & out, of the vehicle. Pickles. |
