Live diagnostic may prove useful, perhaps an injector?

I was thinking the same maybe injector , but normally there are other things as well like hard to start , smokng , misfire etc

take it everything seems fine other wise

It does run very well still doing 29 mpg pulls like a train etc. I'm 99 percent certain it's coming from underneath the engine and around the bulkhead area. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

Would the glow plugs have any effect munch?

I was just thinking if it was an injector, doesn't that show up as live info on some diagnostics as the pressure.
In other words you can determine with out inspecting if the pressure is too high or too low on an injector individually.

cant get a individual pressure difference to injectors as its common rail

bad spray pattern maybe on injector

no glow plug wouldn't do it , also there on n/s under inlet manifold

dianostics check wouldn't be my first thing , but wouldn't hurt to check

if its on one cyl then really you would need to find out which cyl by going though one by one , not something I would say how to do on a forum , as high pressure diesel is not something to play with as a injector will inject diesel though your skin if you had your finger over the end !

fine to do a 60m trip ? no one could say 100%

get it checked ? yes

take it gentle ? yes

it maybe nothing and it goes away , like I said before could be something silly like a air bubble in a hydraulic tappet and might clear on its own , possible after oil change ,but would have expected it to have cleared by now

Have you checked the oil level yourself? Sounds like a dry tappet to me but hard to say via a video

Yes oil level checked and all is good there. The service was done at 39,598 on the 12th March. It's now done 39,952 and today was the 1st time I've driven it so I've no idea how long it's been like that as I last drove it before it went for service. The only observations made were that it needed a new rear main diff seal and new pads all around which I'd pretty much expected. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

I would take it back to the dealer and get them to sort it!

To me, it sounds like a tappet... did you have the oil changed? If the engine has oil hydraulic tappets, one of them could have bled down which would explain that noise. If this is the reason, it should self cure after about 15 mins of normal driving.... Rolling Eyes YOLO... You Only Live Once...

Well it's done around 300 miles since it was serviced.

I also must stress that with the bonnet open this noise doesn't appear to be coming from the top/front of the engine.

Mine does exactly the same, I haven't had chance to look for the cause yet, so I'll keep an eye on this thread.
