Does the data expire after 30 days or does it keep going until all used up even if more than 30 days? 1999 Defender TD5 110

I am not so sure any provider offers a SIM deal that doesn't expire after 30 days...
All a bit of a huge con if you ask me... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al |

I'm sure the last 3 sim card I bought last year was activated in the last week of July, I used it when camping for 12 days at Bala, then I used it a couple of times through August and it eventually ran out of data at the LRO show at Peterbugger which in my book is a longer period than 30 days.

With 3 it seems you get 1GB of data per month and can pre-order 3 or 12 months worth pre-loaded...
In my book that is still a Monthly time limited deal, whether you use it or not and is a rip off!... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al |

My plan allows me to load the sim and use it as and when, it never expires. I have it as a back up broadband at home .
Mine is an old contract so not sure if that plan is still available but it might be worth asking. The dongle cost £79 . |

Why use a SIM and dongle when broadband deals are so cheap at present, EE and Plus Net are doing deals from £2.50 a month. Both Sky and Talk Talk are dong 12 months for free. Many packages include free calls which would save money as well.

A quick look at PlusNet but it does look like the deal is when you take out Phone and BB with them. £2.50 for just BB would be nice but I can't see the inlaws swapping providers from BT. 1999 Defender TD5 110

It's all very well to say why not trawl round the broadband deals? Fine if you have a choice, we have only recently in the past 18 months got a choice of three providers. We have allways had BT closely followed by the company that got taken over by talk talk in our village that is only 4 miles from the centre of Hereford. The newcomer is sky but they all use the BT equipment to get it to the house. We are now actually getting fibre optics to the village but the few I've spoken to with BT Infinity say it doesn't really blow the competition out of the water.
I used a 3 Dongle for a few years as it was by far the better way of accessing the internet but after having problems with a near neighbour fitting some American sourced cordless house phones that used a frequency that interfered with the dongles connectivity to the local mast. The dongle comes into it's own for using the laptop when out camping and also enables me and the boys to use it as a 'hot spot' to tether the phones to which saves on the more expensive phone contract data charges. It has been rare not to get a signal for the 3 dongle, yes there are dead spots but they've been fewer than my phone that's on vodafone. The dongle lives in the bottom of the laptop bag and I can either top up over the phone if I want more data or just go and get another sim card, there's sometimes a deal on to get you started so can be a cheap way . |
