Not sure about the torx bolts.
But like you mine suddenly developed a rattle from the spare wheel carrier after being parked over night in town. On coming back to the car I noticed the cover on the spare tyre was not straight as if moved, I guess they removed the cover to find it`s held on with locking wheel nuts and a dirty great chain  . So they must have decided to try the mounting bolts. I had removed the door trim (and lock tighted the nuts) a few screws and trim clips, try to remove it square. As it likes to try and bend / snap.
At this time I was working on a mounting plate to fit the spare wheel inside the car, on to the plylining. (if you can get hold of a few ZF gear box PTO blanking plates they work a treat, pre drilled holes). It`s now in side the car out of site. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

Well all sorted - 4 of the 6 bolts holding the wheel carrier on we're loose. You need long arms to sort this one but managed to do it without breaking anyof the door card clips!!

looks like I've got a fun job to do to change my wheel carrier soon then

Have to admit I was surprised that it was straightforward. Took about 20 mins and I used a long thin screwdriver to get as close to door card pins as possible to prise them loose before pulling the door card off square. Obviously you need to pop out the little black square behind the door handle inside to get the door card off.
The only way I found to reach both the inside and outside bolts at the same time was to sit underneath the door! Unless you are Mr tickle! Then just greased them up (2 were a bit rusty) and tightened them with a ratchet. Good luck. |
