Goodwinch TDS Goldfish 9.5
Unless you are intending to winch stuff heavier than your 110 then a 9.5 is perfectly adequate. 9.5 is usual in winch challenge events ie. self recovery winching out of mud or up steep slopes. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

Yes, think before you begin. First question to ask yourself, do you really need a winch? You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

On my old 90 i had a 8274 up front and a super winch husky under the load bed ..
I'm picking up my 110 in a few weeks and will be doing lots of green lanes and play days .. Last edited by grizz on 8th Sep 2014 7:14pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I agree...do you really really really need one. I put one on and never ever used it. It looked ugly and when i tried to sell a previous defender with it on......no one was interested in the vehicle bacause it said "ive been extreme off roading"... So i took it off and sold the car within a week! If you go off roading with others then they will help you out the shyte....if you go extreme solo....all a winch does is pull you further into the shyte. Solution....dont go solo or mount it on the back of the vehicle!!!
In the winter when i pulled people out the snow...i couldnt be arsed to use the subject winch...i just lobbed a rope on....much quicker and easier! And a whole lot safer. |

Exactly how will you be using your 110?
A decent winch, winch accessories, twin battery system ( not essential) winch bumper, training etc and you could be talking £1,500 plus easily. If you say for green Laning then should you be driving the green lane? If planning on going to remote areas as a solo vehicle then that is different. Goldfish and Warn are good, avoid el cheapos. I spent years driving green lane's , doing play days and doing the odd winch comp .
I started with a pto drum on a RR Classic and ended up with a 4.2 efi 90 i built with a 8274 on the front and a husky 8 at the rear . I'm no novice but wondered which of the currant crop of winches anyone would recommend . It'll be used for green lanes , group and solo . Grizz |

You won't find a better winch than a Husky.
