looking for a set of 7.50 x 16 in a traditional land rover patten to go on white steels.
see a few sets on out favourite auction site that come in at around 400 all in for 4 tyres. They are budget tyres but intersted to hear any views on these. |

Would like some XZLs but a lot more money - get what you pay for. Probably a lot more options in 235/85/16 but I really like the traditional tall and skinny look... |

As noted above, they are as noisy as hell and whine like mad on the road.
what truck you putting on them? I wouldn't have them on a defender to use on the road as the handling is horrendous. Had them on the lightweight (series 3) but replaced them for both of the above reasons with XZL. I've got a set of used XZL's knocking around on LWB rims if you're interested, they've got a few nicks out of them here and there. Drop me a PM.  |

Michelin XPC (7.50x16) are good tyres,come up occasionally on fleabay,unused spare/low milage,but they ain't cheap.I Keep looking for some (very cheap) Wolf rims to put mine on coz I'm reluctant to get rid of em. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Thx - am using them on defender on steels.
Mixture of road and lanes but if I am honest - buying them on appearance really. Think I will have to save up for some XZLs but will PM you Camelman |

Try LW Vass in Ampthill, Beds. They always have a good stock of the Michelin XZL including part worn ones and wheels. 1970 Series 2A 88"

Have got a set of dee stones on my series 3 88. They look good, old fashioned, generally in fitting with the battered but original look of the vehicle.
They are though biblically, epically noisy. The handling of the vehicle can be, erm interesting, even at a slow series diesel sedate kind of pace. The tyre fitter turned the air blue trying to balance them on a set of land-rover steel rims. Even then, they're still not brilliantly balanced. At 50mph the howl from them can almost drown out the noise of a 2.25D going full chuff. The general sensation (according to my grandfather) is the closest thing to a Lancaster bomber trying to take off fully laden he's experienced since 1945. But, I like em. |

Whilst I love he classic appearance - Lancaster noise levels may become tiring  |

I had them as 6.00 x 16 's on the series one in 1999. They were rather noisey, and wore down really fast. 1953 80"

I had a set for a while, as already stated very noisy on road, great off road but avoid roundabouts in the wet unless you have experience of steering hover craft. 2008 Defender 110 XS CSW

Had a set on the Lightweight, and the same as Mr James really ...they wore down in a really weird un- even way, but they looked right on a ex-military Landie and they made a cool whirring noise, indeed a bit like a Lancaster, but more like a Lancaster that has been given a good dose of flack!
With regards to the handling in the wet, a 360 spin at a crossroads in Surbiton is still fresh in my memory all these years later.. Wes |

I managed to get a set of take off wheels with 7.50 16 Michelins. Not as agricultural as I was looking for but probably a fair bit quieter... |
