Stupid question - jacking the rear
I usually stick a 3 ton trolley jack under the rear diff if (with a bit of wood) I want to lift the rear wheels.

I've never checked if the diff casing is up to lifting the vehicle?

No problem. Very Happy
Don't forget it's off centre so your Landy will have a port list.

I usually lift it from the sway bar under the diff and then place a axle stand on it before removing the wheels. Then have the trolley jack under the main section of the diff

It cost me a lot of money the first and only time I used the diff as a jacking point. Big Cry Don't make old people mad.

Will it wasn't on a Land Rover, it was on a friends vintage car and after getting the wheels off the ground the oil started to flow. twelve months of apprentice wages to pay for new diff casing. Don't make old people mad.

Ah, ok. Not really relevant here though, as a LR diff is a recognised jacking point. Darren

More based on the amount of people that had read it in that time and neither confirmed or denied it meaning it wasn't as obvious/well known/ daft question as I thought.

But thanks for pointing that out and the Rolling Eyes you're obviously a top chap Thumbs Up

I'll go pick my toys up.
