Mine has not managed more than 6k per year but if it did I would change the engine oil every 6k DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

Yes, I do. Full annual service, but at 6 months at least an engine oil and filter change, and a full greasing. Every two years at the intermediate 6 months I have all fluids changed (gear and transfer box, diffs, engine...)
Mind I only do about 6/7000 km per annum now, but still as 80% of my driving is distances of about 10km, it is better to change oil more frequently than LR tell you. My dealer says it is overkill, but I have different opinion on that. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Waste of money
Dont forget this engine [2.4] has a yearly/15,000 mile service schedule when fitted to Transits, the 2.2 is even longer [20,000] so even at close to 12k its still well within its capabilities. Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

MOT and full service yearly. I wouldn't bother with an interim oil change unless I were doing much more than 12,000 miles a year or what LR themselves define as "arduous operating conditions". It's the 21st century and oil and materials have somewhat improved since the days of decokes, valve grinding and greasing suspension nipples.
