Nice.
I eventually got my steering guard fitted, had to have it milled to fit the Jate rings. Click image to enlarge I also had problems with assorted spacers and washers. Had to try and source different sized spacers to those supplied with the kit. In the end, made up some gaps with several washers. |

Looks nice that one. Found it just too expensive...

Jate rings with a steering guard look really functional to me not a fan of the hole cut in the steering guard blade - pulls are rarely dead straight and having them in double shear seems far more preferable.

I thought this was just wider due to chassis rail width of later Defenders? |

Yes I thought so too. The steering guard side plates usually mount over the steering arm fixing thing on the drivers side, so there's noting underneath the JATE ring.
I am not sure, but it might be that 110 defenders have wider rear chassis long members. The front long member on my ninety is 85mm wide, the rear one 75mm. Will have to fill that gap with washers. (haven't got any on the rear end yet) |

Really excellent advice and pictures from Ninety84 - much appreciated and I have just fitted my Mantec guard and it looks very purposeful along with its Jate rings.
For anyone fitting this set up on a 2.2 tdci with air conditioning, be aware that it is an abrolute swine to access the top bolt on the steering box side. Nevertheless it is possible by carefully unclipping the metal pipework for the refrigerant. |
