Ciao Lorryman,
did You have dtc 2562 too?
Vinicio

Ok, full dtc was P2562-34, but they wanted to replace turbocharger. After a discussion I told them to repair harness and to replace MAP sensor. Finger crossed.
Thank You
Vinicio

Yes Daniele but You could have an earth fault on the circuit with an earth fault on the wire. Isn't it?

Ok, not so well...
Wires to turbo's actuator were broken and have been repaired as required by related technical bullettin.
MAP sensor replaced.

So now I have MIL turn off and no DTC but the TURBOCHARGER is not working and Dealer is going to replace it (with a reconditioned one)! Big Cry I'll have to pay more than 1500 euro.

I'm really depressed.

Strange!! The DTC you gave us originally pointed to an issue within the modulator loom and not the Turbo. So this is what I would be asking the dealer if I was in your place. Why is the turbo not working?? Can the dealer give an explanation? Is it the actual turbo at fault or the modulator? Did they go for a test run after the loom repair and was a live data check done at the same time? What were the symptoms which led them to say a new Turbo is required? Seems a bit strange that the turbo needs replacing immediately after repairing the loom. Did they test the loom repair was done correctly and all resistance values were within tolerance? Also 1500 euros for a recon turbo is a bit steep IMHO, especially when Alive, BAS and IRB can do hybrids for less with more oomphhh. Just my Tuppence worth.

HTH.

Hi Lorryman100,
they are replacing turbocharger ( including actuator) because it is impossible for an official LR dealer to replace actuator only. I hope they tested modified actuator's harness and made all necessary software update, but ( really) I'm not sure. The cost of 1500 euro include harness repair, new MAP sensor, regenerated turbocharger with actuator, all necessary gasket and bolts and manhours (they ask 45 euro/hour).
Do You think they are joking me? (Maybe)
Do You think I have to inform LR Italia?
Consider that I'm little bit tired and I need the car asap. Crying or Very sad

You can be sure that it's my last LR and I've been driving LR since a got the license: Series III, 90, Discovery 300tdi and then this f...... Deforder! Evil or Very Mad

Ahh with everything being done 1500 euros is about right. The turbo and modulator are one unit and if one fails the whole turbo unit needs replacing, what I was asking was if the turbo had failed or were the dealers saying it was the modulator that was causing the fault. If it is the modulator that was suspected then after getting the modulator harness fixed that would warrant me to thoroughly check the repair first before even thinking of changing the Turbo. If it was an issue with the Turbo itself ie bearings vanes etc then that would be a separate issue to the modulator harness repair and would warrant a complete new unit. Might be worth considering fitting the Nakatanenga annealed copper gasket as well as the Turbo will be removed?

HTH Brian.

Modulator is the problem thay said. They said they checked harness repair too but I'm not sure because they wanted to change turbo since the first time I explained the problem. I already got Nakatanenga gasket fitted but I can't fit it again because of the warranty on this turbo's replacement.
I don't know, I'm really tired of all these car's issues. I treated my Def with all the attentions but since the begin I got a lot of problems, and I have still to complete the payment Big Cry
Thank You and All You Guys for all Your tips.

knowledge base
i realize this post is dated 2013 but here in 18 the list goes on.
may i suggest that these problems of unsatisfactory performance and service are due to a lack of understanding of the beast?
the land rover is a complicated monster made even more rowdy by bosch and the can buss tech. but i have never seen a spec on can buss. why is that? i think the techs at lr havent seen one either so how could they begin to understand it?
i am currently fighting the same issues others have had since 2005 or so, probably for the same reasons but there still isnt a good database to go to for fixes. (got to say the best database seems to be lorryman)
would it be possible to consolidate historical problems and solutions in one single post?
ie. symptom, details of symptom:temp, etc, dtc`s, things tried, solution. whatever helps to get the job done.
just my two pesos....
