Ok after spotting how to do this I poped to insideout 4x4 near Dorking and brought a second hand handbreak lever for a fiver
Im not sure if it was a Disco or RRC one as was told either would work Refitted rubber boot Wow what an improvement How much space ![]() Click image to enlarge I ended up putting it to the left of gear lever to give even more space ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Here's the link on how to do it http://defender90xs.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09...lever.html Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() DC110 -2012 Black with black hood and black x-tech FFRR 4.2 vogue Renault traffic auto PT crusier convertible Laika x700 Motorhome |

Just make sure that it's OK for the MoT test.... being on the wrong side and all that.
From the MOTuk website: Method of Inspection 3. While sitting in the driver’s seat, check the presence, security and condition of the parking brake lever or control. Reason for rejection 3. The brake lever or control: c. defective or located so that it cannot be satisfactorily operated |

Cheers Jim I'd not seen that
I'd based it was ok as the 2 previous jeeps the wife's had excluding the last one as that had a foot operated parking brake had this set up ![]() Click image to enlarge Might pop and see the man at MOT bay down the road Fingers crossed But it's so simple to relocate to the other side if I have to it just gave me a little more ease of access to it Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() DC110 -2012 Black with black hood and black x-tech FFRR 4.2 vogue Renault traffic auto PT crusier convertible Laika x700 Motorhome |

MX5 (the Mk2 anyway) had the handbrake on the "wrong" side.

I really want to do this but as I've moved my seat across towards the cubby box(lifted on rails then attached to welded on flags on the side of the rails, moved over by about 25mm) leaving no room, the seat belt clip has only just got enough room. I have been thinking of an over centre lever found on construction machines/telescopic handlers. When not in use the handle drops out of the way, when engaged you pull up and "over centre" the lever so hopefully it's only "in the way" when it is on. My MoT man is interested but is trying to work out, when he gets round to it, whether it is permissable as there is no ratchet in this system, IIRC rally style handbrakes with the buttons removed for turning purposes aren't allowed but then they're not really used for parking. I did think about on on the outside of the seat but it would stop you from getting out unless I can find one that used to be on a Peugeot 504 pick up I used to have where the handle would lift and engage the handbrake conventionally but would rest in a dropped position.
