If you lookin to spend money, the stainless bulkhead vent pins are brill,(once you get the old ones out, lol). You'll be needing them vents if you go touring, personally I think vents are a hell of a lot better than aircon.

Stainless Pins are a must, and they will set off well with your new black finish..

Had a great couple of weeks, did about 2.5K miles only one wee problem lost a caliper bolt heading down a mountain, not entirely sure why was about 1K in... Managed to get a new one at a local dealer eventually...

Need to look at getting some air con retrofitted, was fine when moving but stopping was too hot and need to do some sound proofing in the cab area for next trip...

After all the hard work you did, I'm glad your trip went well.
So, it was no problem finding a "local" L.R. Dealer?
I'll be interested to follow your air cond. build up.
Cheers, Pickles.

Thanks.

Yeah wasn't much of a problem finding it, we were at the pena montanesa camp site in spain, guy on the reception was into 4x4's so pointed us in the right direction. Went to the local dealers if any of us spoke Spanish it wouldn't have been a problem. Managed to get my breakdown cover to order me it after a lot of quoting their terms and conditions to them and it arrived at the garrage we originally went to a few days after...

Not got anywhere with aircon but have ordered a new bulkhead removal bar and 6 seat half leather heated interior. Hopefully get it fitted soon, helping a mate with rebuilding his landcruiser engine as its smoking badly. But hopefully get them in soon.

Best advice for calliper bolts is to use new each time, especially if you haven't owned the vehicle before as so many people never use a torque wrench. You can always use loctite too after a good clean of threads.

Shouldn't have any issues then.

Going to do insulation in the cab when i do new seats and remove the bulkhead, just going with the flashband and insulation from B&Q as it worked well in the back and as far as i can see ends up the same makeup as the expensive stuff... Laughing Will try and get some inside the seat boxes too if I can.

Yeah lesson is learned new bolts next time, I'm 99% sure i put loktite on them, the other one certainly had some on it. Only thing i can think off is i painted the calipers before i refitted them and remember getting a little paint on my hands so perhaps just been soft paint under them that dried? Anyway it had done ~2K (1K on trip) since refitting it until it came out...

Swapped the headlight bulbs for pure white to match the LED sideights when on dim dipp (what a saddo lol). Left light done right not, you can only just see the difference in the pic...

flash band is bitumen based used for waterproofing in the building trade. Get it at your local builders merchant, you can get foil backed stuff too..
You can get it in screwfix but rolls are quite wee. http://www.screwfix.com/p/evo-stik-flashba...tAodCX0AIw

and b and q insulation:
http://www.diy.com/nav/build/insulation/co...d=13359535

flash-band is sticky so i applied that to a clean panel then some spray glue and then the foil insulation.

Cheep and cheerful and i don't whine like my mate when removing his silent coat stuff to get at his gearbox (non defender) Laughing

Seems too, it's off on one side now (big oil spilage Rolling Eyes ) and it's a lot louder, fitted a set of exmoor trim rubber mats at the same time though and have never tried it without them though. I'll try get the decible meeter on my phone to work and see what the difference is....

New accessory fitted..

Hackout the old one.

All I need to do now is cut the edges properly, drill some holes and fit the new bar, stick the new seats in, sounds easy when you say it like that....
