Spotted this at A hotel in the new forest, looks like a fibreglass body, possibly an ambulance or ice cream van? Got some neat coach lines on it

Could it be what they called a "Cross Country Ambulance", built by Pilchers?
Cheers, Pickles. |

I thought it looked a bit Harrods colours (although no obvious sign writing area) Maybe it was a panel van and the sign writing was in the body where the windows are (perhaps been added although they appear to be a moulded in item)

Could also be a G suffix, as they were first with lamps in wings and shallow sills, came in in spring 1969, suffix H was later, 1970 I think, had a few further mods. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

I mis-spelled the name in my previous post, it's Pilcher-Greene (from Burgess Hill), still in business today.
I have also just found the following page which seems to be the ultimate reference for Land-Rover ambulances here. Interesting photo of an Australian ambulance conversion of an 80" Series 1, in the style of the WW2 jeep ambulances. There's a Series IIA P-G ambulance that I see trundling round the Poole area reasonably often too. I am not sure how many were built in total. |
