Congrats
The list looks sensible mostly - Boot cover subject often crops up, no one seems to make anything that fits in over the seats but there are options for rubber mats and trays including some that Brendan on here sells. Why a Puma bonnet? Can't see the need for it on a TD5 and it may support the low lives who knick them if you don't buy new. Also with a RAI - do you need one for a good reason as they can restrict air flow. Cheers, John John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Welcome Dan and good luck with the new purchase and your hunt for the bits you seek
Can I suggest, if your truck hasn't already got extra security fitted/supplied, that you consider this as a priority as it's amazing how many are pinched with the owners seemingly thinking that a Defender alarm/immobiliser alone is an effective deterrent. Plenty of threads on here about trackers / secondary alarms / mechanical locks on pedals, steering wheels, gear/tbox levers etc..... Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

Thanks John I appreciate your advice here. I will live with the bonnet as is for a while and see if I'm still drawn to the Puma bonnet - its purely the ascetics that I like about it. I did buy some used mats off the buyer and a dog guard so I'm now sorted on those parts. Good point on the Snorkel too - will I ever get in that deep? Again, vanity creeping in so I will sleep on it a while. If I do get one it'll likely be a proper safari one that doesn't restrict intake and I guess I need to be mindful of doing any performance upgrades as presumable the induction rate will change? This help/advice is exact;y why I joined this forum - many thanks Last edited by danridge on 29th May 2013 8:46pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I hadn't thought of this so big thanks - did a bit of reading and chatting with the guy I bought it off today and he echoed your words. I'll sort it asap. Regards a tracker - is it difficult to find somewhere to place this? not many bits you cant poke your nose into on a Defender Last edited by danridge on 29th May 2013 9:32pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Bear in mind an RAI isn't necessarily a wading snorkel. Most are not completely watertight (the standard internal pipework has open drain holes anyway) and are used simply to reduce dust and spray that would otherwise be sucked into the intake at the side. If you're not going to benefit from it there's no point... except yes, okay, I suppose they do look cool Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |
