Puma Conversion to SW
Hi All

I am still considering this 'upgrade' from my TD5 (1998) to a 2007 Puma TDCi, is a conversion a bad thing if i am not having seats in the rear ? Also was 2007 the early years for a Puma, ie is it likely to have all the bugs associated with a new model, its mainly insurance that concerns me with the conversion, although it is cheaper road tax as it is a 'van' on the v5

I'd have thought it would cease to be a van? Unless you lie on the V5... unlikly o be good if you ever had reason to use your insurance...

So are you considering upgrading just the engine/gbox ? I think you'd be missing the interior? MY12 110 XS Ute, silver & grey now...

I think Johnnyd is talking about exhanging his TD5 for a later Puma but is concerned that the Puma has been converted from a van to a station wagon.

To be honest, if the Puma doesn't have rear seats then it's not really a station wagon anyway. It's just a van that's had windows fitted, which is certainly not unusual. Just tell your insurers and away you go.

2007 is an early Puma and posts on here suggest that they were not without there problems. Rattling clutches, rusted stub axles and diff problems spring to mind although I'm sure that a search here will reveal more details. Having said that, it's now around six years old, so it may be reasonable to assume that those sorts of things have been dealt with long ago.

Ultimately thoguh, all of the internet advice in the world is no substitute for inspecting the vehicle itself. If you don't feel confident to do that yourself, then see if you can find somebody locally who knows what they're talking about and can go with you. Darren
