Door seal
Looking down from the drivers seat (and passenger) I can see the road through the bottom rear corner of the door, is this standard or have I got badly fitted seals?
Wondered why I was getting a cold draught Banging Head

From the inside looking at the bottom left of all the doors I see a small section where I see light too.

Yes pretty common on the old type door seals especially when the little self adhesive rubber blocks in the corners drop off. The newer type seals follow the door contours better. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.

I have gaps you could put your finger through at the front of both my 300 TDi doors, I regard them as drain holes for all the condensation or rain that pours down on to my legs/feet first thing in the morning as I brake at the bottom of the hill. Rolling with laughter

I will check the new one tomorrow though 2.2 90 XS

You'd think they would suds the door seal by now on an off road vehicle wouldn't you!

I'd imagine if you stopped at all in water it would be straight through the gap, atleast when I drove a work van into a little puddle a few years ago it took quite a while to fill up with water.............. Whistle

When did they start to fit the new type seals? Mine is a 2011 build.

Better to have drainage plugs for flooding. Also handy when you have to flush out..stuff.

To cut down draughts, inner door flaps. Can be made by cutting up old (or new cheap) car mats. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

I've often looked at those door seal gaps and thought I should do something about it but really, why bother. Water rarely gets in and when it does, it is no more than the waterI transfer from by boots. I guess if I was too fussed about such things, I would be better off buying a Toyota or something just as bland. Sometimes It is better to ask for forgiveness, than to ask for permission.
