Give a much better ride and virtually no body roll. Absorb any bumps in a single rebound. Make the Defender feel almost like a sports car - perhaps a Defender Z4 Laughing

Thumbs Up

Are they std length?

Yes they are, but there are also longer ones available if you have a lift. 110 2.4TDCi

@CapyLandy - I presume you went into the desert? How does the 110 tackle the dunes, especially going upwards on steep dunes? I see you have BFG MT's. Going this friday into the desert, not the first time but the last few times it was some light offroading etc so it was pretty easy, this time going deep into the arabian desert. Im sure any desert is pretty much the same. What psi do you run on?

Was the undercarriage touching the sand when you reached the top?

Cheers. '08 LR Defender 110

How does the 110 tackle the dunes, especially going upwards on steep dunes? Steep Dunes not very well especially if soft. Not enough power. I try 2'nd High DiffLockIn for the long steeper ones but as you know gearing down is impossible and low range doesn't get the required speed. Then again I don't like showing off at the detrement of my engine

Was the undercarriage touching the sand when you reached the top? Yes, completely lodged from gearbox, diffs and center cross member but I came from the leaward side to drop down the steep side which had been recently wind swept to a steep angle. I would sugest if you are alone to check the general lie of the surrounding dunes and if one or two are a sharp drop then they all are going to be pretty much the same if they are in windy area. Rather wind around those realy steep dunes unless you send your mate ahead at slighly higher speed in a toyota who will smash the edge of the dune with his nice low front end Twisted Evil
Cheers.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. I will post a video clip when I get home so you can see how she fares in the sand.

@CapeLandy - Sorry for all the questions and cheers for replying. Thumbs Up Must have been some really soft sand which got you stuck, same applies for the desert thats why they always say point your car downhill when in a stationary position. In a defender you know when your stuck in the desert when you can smell the clutch roasting Rolling with laughter I run on the standard general grabbers and usually bring the tyres down to 20psi which is more than enough. Only problem with the defender is the height you can not see anything when your just about to go down a dune, you don't know whats below or how steep it is but the ground clearance is fantastic. Its going to be family and friends, toyota landcrusiers, lexus jeeps (rebadged toyota's landcrusiers), jeep wrangler, mitsubshi pajero, and my land rover Mr. Green Defenders are very hard to come across here in middle east, its more the luxury ranger rovers, rr sports and discoverys. Definetly let you all know what happens with pictures too Thumbs Up

@Chunk and PDH - Fantastic pictures, wish it snowed here. Hope you guys are enjoying early christmas showers. Thumbs Up '08 LR Defender 110

Chunk - how did the tyres perform? It looks like you had a 110 on General grabbers, another on BFG MT and a 90 on BFG AT. Was there a significant difference between them in the snow?

Fabulous pics by the way. Our snow was rubbish by comparison (and we don't have anywhere to really exploit it and enjoy it).

Alan, only had 1 bit of wheel spin pulling away on an uphill gradient, otherwise the tyres were absolutely fine all day.

A couple of the guys were struggling on a the odd section and at one point ended up coming down backwards far too quickly for comfort, but that was probably the track conditions as opposed to the tyres. Shocked

I can't really put into words how impressed I was with my 110's showing, it's awesome and I love it.

Well last night and early this morning the 90 was truly the right bit of kit to be in, it managed everything asked from it (pulling a couple of cars off verges etc) it behaved on the snow and ice without any trouble Diff lock worked a treat.

Almost sorry its melting now!!
