Anyone know where i could buy about 20ft of 10mm heat protective wrap for my dynema winch line? High temperature protection the better?

Dyneema/Plasma are UHMWE polyethylene which will have a melting point of about 120C. However the strength of UHMWPE will start dropping off sharply from about 70C.

Now best heat insulation will be given by glass or kevlar type tubular webbing. Give Andy at Ruftraks a ring on 07806-776311 or David at Bowyers (0)1363 82666

There again good old nylon tubular webbing is better then nothing.

David Bowyer is as much use as a chocolate teacup in the desert.

120 or even 70 degrees isn't really enough for a braked winch drum, 300 degrees is where I want to protect.

I'm fortunate to know a bit about this, it's more finding the place that sells the stuff in the uk...Canada I'm sorted. Mike

That looks like the glass fibre sleeving we used to use on heater bands to protect the wiring..

Cobs has given you one lead also try Fothergill Engineering Textiles.

If they want you to buy large quantities it might be worthwhile talking to a good electrical whoesalers and see what they can source.
