Hi bm52,
I have a noise killer blanket fitted as well, drove it around for a week then added the bonnet kit, it makes a difference. I'm glad I did fit it, stops the Garage Monitor, (she who must be obeyed ), pointing out the bits and pieces being stored for another day _______________________________ Puma Defender 90 |

I went to Waxstock at Peterborough yesterday and it was well worth the trip, lots of products to buy and plenty of advice and demonstrations to do with all aspects of detailing. There was even a Defender on display that had received a 55 hour detail.

^^^^ Somebody has far too much time on their hands
Made a bracket to mount a fire extinguisher on the rear door in place of the grab handle. Just got to paint it now: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Trying to fit Entreq side strips, whilst waiting for confirmation / advice from this forum about them I started to fit nut covers underneath the car, filled each one with Corrosion Block grease (ACF 50s thick brother) and smeared the same over the bolt heads. I'm trying to make Zag proud. Not too sure if future owners will thank me or curse me as once fitted they are a bit fiddly to remove. Many more nuts to do. Whilst underneath the car spotted that the chequer plate retaining bolts were all loose and that the powder coat is peeling off and going rusty underneath on the NAS rear step. 7 months old/ 1000 miles hmm.

Got some waxoyle stuff onto the some of the chassis I could not get to when painting
Replaced the towbar with a Dixon and Bate adjustable hitch Replaced the rear x-member Torx bolts with some stainless ones from DefenderBits . This was a struggle as some of them were rusted in place, had to grind the heads off a couple and drill one out and re-tap. Refitted the front passenger side mud flap and replaced the standard bolts/rivets with some stainless ones. And gave the x-member a coating of Black spray paint 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Central locking finished and wired and working! Cabling was a pain but its a rewarding modification. I've also been for a little drive to get used to the lighter spring on the clutch and I can say it makes a big difference!

Thought i'd be clever and paint my light surrounds black to match my chequerplate. Took my time, built up the paint layer by layer. Made a bloody mess of it. It looks dreadful.
So now shall I just buy new OEM to replace or a KBX version? Foul mood now. That fire extinguisher bracket above looks very nice.! |

Tonight I replaced the rear brake pads (thanks DefenderBits) Started one side and thought oh, no new springs in the kit...Then did the other side. Then packed up and found the new springs in another bag!!!!
Then went for a spin in the Landy to test the brakes and took some arty pictures with my Galaxy S2. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Been a bit of a busy week with ferrying kids around. Tuesday was spent using the winch to position a wooden fort at the local primary school, should have been done earlier in the year but the weather never played ball and needed doing before school starts. Yesterday traipsing round the countryside sorting the youngests school uniform. Today picked up a trailer for tomorrows expedition, fetching a Freelander with a snapped cambelt, before I got home the trailer was pressed into service moving a skittle alley ready for a Jubilee celebration that was moved from the start of July. I also cleaned out an impromptu anti-rust treatment, a 5l can of oil had tipped over in the back and the top had come off. It's amazing how far the stuff travelled! Cat litter and plenty of rags. We've had a steering wobble recently, I had straightened out the tie rod and replaced the track rod ends but couldn't find the third one I'd bought to do the one on the one on the link. I had bought a left and a right hander at Eastnor and got round to changing it today, was proper tatered, no wobble now
