Main/Aux battery lighting Question
I am running a LED Bar from an AUX battery, with a simple on/off switch, this will be used when setting up camp and general illumination. I would also like to have an override and have it work inconjunction with the main beam.

There is a problem here, I do not want to join main and aux batteries via the lighting curcuit.

Here is my proposed solution, using a relay to isolate the 2 feeds

Question: Should the RED wire come from the full beam feed or the full beam Switch ?

I would say the wire should come from the switch to activate the relay when you select full beam. Russell

I would use a 3 way switch (on/off/on) to control the LED bar relay

One of the "on"s will be fed from the aux 12v battery (as well as the main feed for the LED lampbar)

The other "on" just comes directly from the main beam feed.... doesn't really matter where you take the feed from, either the headlights themselves or the back of the switch... it's all the same feed.

The LED bar 3 way switch will isolate the AUX and MAIN battery feeds, as the main beam feed (when switched to "main" will only energise the coil then go to earth) OR the AUx battery will energise the relay... the two will never be connected, thus:

The light blue wires is the "feed" from the cars main beam circuit onto your 3 way switch for the LED bar

and don't forget a fuse!!!!!!

Carling do a 3 way on-off-on, I've got one on the 110 running the rear lights ("on", "off" and "reverse")
