2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Stornoway Grey
Simbars
Has anyone modified a Simbars bike carrier so that it fit on the back of a Defender. I am struggling to find a bike carrier that will take at least 3 adult bikes. I know you are going to say there are racks out there but I cannot find one to fit. The MaxxRaxx one for the defender has a spare wheel overhand figure of 230mm but this is not enough as I have a Mantec wheel carrier on the back, Witter do one also but there offset is only 187mm. I am not keen to go for the roof option as I am bit on the short side for that, but then again nearly everyone is. Any ideas or suggestions much appreciated. 2.2 2012 110 utility Orkney Grey

Do you think the that carrier would still work with the extra distance the spare wheel is held out due to the Mantec wheel carrier, it looks like it is very close to the limit on the website picture without that extra distance. 2.2 2012 110 utility Orkney Grey

If you've got a Mantec wheel carrier, can you not just use a wheel mounted one? The often dire warnings about using these relate to the rear door hinges, but that wouldn't apply in your case. Darren

following a simular question before on the forum I followed Greeni's advice and brought a Pendle 4 bike rack off e/bay for £100 and cut it down to 3 bikes (it was like new) It is a great bit of kit and perfect for the task in every way except but does mean you cant open the rear door when bikes are on. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Do you think the 3 bike carrier would fit, you said you used a 4 bike one of ebay and cut it down. I tend to think the spare wheel would encroach on the first bike position on a 3 bike carrier, that is what I have at the moment with a Thule unit and my one doesn't take the extension adapter. By the way to find one for £100 of fleebay was a bit of a result. 2.2 2012 110 utility Orkney Grey
