Factory Carpets - a few questions
Good day All,

Happy to report I've found and purchased a Defender 90 and whilst I wait for delivery, I am gathering a few bits to be installed.

It's a 14 reg XS I found but it doesn't have carpeting so I ordered most of what's available from LR.

A few questions which I hope someone can shed some light on.

1. Wheel arch carpeting - is this glued down? I had it in my previous 90 but can't recall if it was.

2. Actual carpet. I seem to recall the carpet was of decent quality and had an actual woven pile but looking at what just arrived, it feels more like mouse fur. I found a few pics of other Defenders with carpeting and can't seem to feel that what was sent is of a lower quality even though it's the latest part number. Can someone share a close up of their carpet to compare? top and bottom if possible.

3. Found it odd that the backing of the carpet differs from one wheel arch to the other The baking is coming away as well so will take this up with LR. Perhaps try and get a discount and then just glue myself?

pics attached show pile up close and the back of the two arch pieces and how they differ.

As always, thank you

Probably no help, but I fitted Lucari carpets in mine as the LR ones seemed cheap. If you get a refund they are worth a look.

I only glued mine where it’s unlikely to need lifting again (could be anywhere on a defender I suppose), for the rest I used professional grade carpet tape and it’s all still where it should be.

Thank you JoolsB for your input. I think the wheel arch parts are stuck down from the factory and the rest just sits there.

I read some reviews on Lucari carpet not fitting that great etc hence going with factory.

Yes, it would have saved a bit of dosh for sure Big Cry
