Have you tried to get it fired on a spray of easystart?
That may give you a bit more info on direction of fault. |

What’s the situation with the battery now? Perhaps the VCV has gone under, that causes enough problems to do that.
It could be as Ickle mentioned though, but best to check out the things you can do at hone before anything else. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Have you access to a nanocom or IIDTool, I’m wondering if the 10AS needs to be re-synchronised with the engine ECU. It shouldn’t need to be as you can normally disconnect the battery without issues occurring but it’s a simple thing to do with right diagnostics kit.
Ps is your alarm unit a green 10AS ? I’m expecting it to be given you have a 2011 vehicle, however sometimes they have been replaced due to faults and the replacements can be the later Black ALM units, the CH versions can suffer a brownout due to a main battery slowly draining down. Hence my question to discount that issue. |

I had a very similar issue where mine would crank enthusiastically but not start. I had a crankshaft sensor error flag up on the reader so i swapped it but still the same. It ended up being the cam sensor. Fit a new one and fired up straight away!

2 minute job, 1 screw holding the sensor in place and easy to access. I’ll try find a picture of where it’s located.

Click image to enlarge Here it is, just above the inlet manifold. The wiring connector was the hardest thing to get off! |

Excellent, that’s good to know.
I had a look in the parts catalog, they aren’t cheap sensors though are they. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

I seem to remember paying about £30 for a non-geniune sensor a few years ago. Had no issues since.

It’s part number LR048186, JLR sell at circa £144, but it’s a well used sensor on a number of vehicles and even a Delphi one is only circa £17 !!!!

Indeed I noticed that when I had a quick browse, LR has gone all out with their mark up that’s for sure.
Who do you think the manufacturer LR used? I’ve always been pretty sure the MAP has been Bosch, the MAF Hella or Ford, on mine I went for the latter. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Thanks to everyone for their input... The problem turned out to be a recognised issue with the factory immobiliser, whereby it just fails - and Landrover put in a fix to the later models to work around this. So my issue was fixed by bridging the two wires behind the instrument cluster to bypass the factory immobiliser.
The thread that describes the solution is https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic47486-45.html |
