Bloody Alarm
Afternoon all
I have a 90 2003 xs
Alls been surprisingly well until this week!!!
Now when I lock the car sometimes it’ll unlock straight away , sometimes it’ll lock fine but seconds later alarm will go off or it will lock be fine for hours then unlock itself at some point !
Any ideas where to start ?

Hello,
If it has been particularly cold down in Cheshire recently it might be a sticking door lock upsetting the alarm. Worth cleaning out the door locks with brake cleaner and re lubricating.
Alternatively it could be a broken wire in either of the front doors where they enter the doors. The rear door seems less prone to broken wires, but is still a possibility.

The above are the usual suspects, but there are other faults which I am certain others will advise on.

Very much trial and error at this stage.

I’ll give the locks a good clean.
I have changed the rear door actuator before so hopefully that’s one thing it shouldn’t be

So I gave all the locks a good clean with wd40 contact cleaner .
Still the issue if I sit inside and lock it by pushing the button down , sometimes seconds sometimes minutes later the car unlocks itself.
Alternatively if I use the fob to lock and arm the alarm seconds later the alarm goes off .
Any ideas ????

Had very similar on my previous Td5. I swapped the drivers door actuator for new. Never had issue again.

Strip the door cards off, lube all of the system with silicone lube it does wonders and it’s probably the cold hardening any residual grease causing the mechanisms to bind up.
It’s a bit like the windscreen wiper rack, a job that needs doing once in a blue moon but will cause trouble eventually, cold weather thickens grease a lot so makes mechanical actuators and motors work harder. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧
