This was mine after a few months of winter salt.

As soon as l got mine l was underneath with the wax based corrosion inhibitor.

Mine is still perfectly rust free after 14 months. Although it will be a
long time before the rust on that photo turns to actual structural corrosion.

Looks like there's still a case for treating new vehicles against corrosion! I wonder why the manufacturer doesn't do it.

Get underneath with the anti corrosion products! lf nothing else, the vehicle will be easier to sell when you come to get rid of it.

Don't use black "waxoyl" or similar. Choose the clear version of your favourite product. Waxoyl is available clear if you want, but if using that product l recommend adding 10% oil to
the mix. It stops it from going hard, which can be worse than nothing at all as it lifts off the surface and traps corrosion underneath.

l did mine with rattle cans of XCP anti rust coating, which is like ACF50
l emptied a few cans on the vehicle, reversing it on to some ramps gives enough clearance if you don't mind lying on your back.
Obviously change the ramps over to do the front.

Just wanted to add this photo. The picture doesn't show it clearly, but the shop told me they weren't rusty underneath either. Just the top of the exposed eyes.

Hi everyone,

Mine haven’t started rusting (yet?) but if your looking to get them back to black colour quick then try some of this stuff https://aquasteel.co.uk/. No links to the company, I’ve just used it in the past. Also good for the dusty rusty underside and suspension parts for a quick makeover but lasts pretty good and stops the rust. A small amount goes a long way plus it’s pretty cheap and it’s a UK company. 110 D300 XD HSE, Carpathian, Tow pack. Air Susp pack, cold pack, hud,

lf using wax based rustproofer then ACF50 or XCP are both similar. You can always get underneath and empty the rest of the tin on your suspension parts

Just back from having the 48v generator/alternator recall done while I waited ( 40 minutes job) and asked the dealer to look at the recovery eyes as I thought that the corrosion was way more than is acceptable on a 10 month old car……………… they agreed and despite what JLR says they will supply and fit new ones that they will redo at their cost when I take the car in for an oil and filter change and AdBlu top up in March. My dealership is in Stirling. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

l don't know why everyone is stressing about these rusting tow eyes. lt's only surface rust. They'll never actually corrode.

To change them you have to take off the rear bumper completely at the risk of breaking clips etc. Just buy a tin of ACF50 or similar and spray them.

I’ve whinged at the rusting because after 3 years with quite a lot of use the pair on my 110 showed no wear and no rust at all when I traded it in and they were OEM accessories not 3rd party purchases.
I suspect that JLR has changed their costing requirements to save a penny or two and why should we have rust streaks on the rear bumper on a car less than 12 months old. Yes I could treat the problem myself but I thought I would see what the dealer would offer. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
