Raptor
Good evening gents.
As we all know, owning a Defender or two, means on going maintainence & modification.
So during the last 10 years of owning my 300tdi,I've done pretty much everything.
Though one job that needed doing from day 1,was the doors either replacing or refurbishing.
So,I picked up a new pair of door skins & hinges about a year ago.
Thinking I'll get round to that job, when I get a spare weekend.I'm sure a few of you can relate to that. Whistle
So,with new doors,I needed to re-paint the doors to match the existing colour. But I did'nt know what colour it was & it was...Well,lets say.Past its best.
I'd seen cars painted with raptor at a couple of the Landy shows, some looked OK,but, most looked a little poor.
Anyhow I bit the bullet,& ordered 8 litres of tintable,& 4 litres of black Raptor, plus 1 litre of Land Rover Alpine white paint to give the colour.
After 3 weekends of work,I'm very pleased with the result.

Thanks for the Thumbs Up Guys.
We'll see if it stands up to the abuse it will get.
I hope it lives up to the U-pol's claims.

Have bought some black Raptor for my bonnet.

Did you find it easy to apply? Whistle
Got any advice, such as psi or temp or anything else that might help?

Cheers 🚜. ...... . .... . .. 🚗🚐🚛🚚🚚🚗🚙🚐

Hi Chris
The black is much easier to apply than the tinted.
Rub down the area to be coated with 80s grade pads on an orbital sander. If you break through the old paint surface, you need to apply primer.
The instructions say the ideal application temperature is 24 degree's,I did mine at between 24 & 28 deg.It was touch dry in about 1hr.
I think it just takes longer to cure if it's cooler.
Something I found, was if you miss any bits, you can touch up later with a brush stippling the coating on gives a similar effect to spraying.
I sprayed @ 50 to 60psi.Any lower & she spatter is bigger/rougher.
The best solvent to clean the gun etc is acetone, though I don't know how readily available it is in the UK?
Though once cured, even acetone won't bring it off. Shocked
Hope this helps.
Marc

Christ mate that looks fantastic! Honestly the first white Fender i really love! Damn good job!

Best part about Raptor ia if you managed to scuff or damage the paint its a quick rub down and a spray on! No blending or match required Smile

Acetone is easily available online btw, bought 2L off Amazon!
