Been doing some poking around and now I don't know if I imagined it....
Rear o/s wheel arch - within the first few months of ownership a loose cable in the rear arch with white plastic connector corroded and fell off. Dealer sorted and put another crimped connector which again corroded and fell off (again dealer fixed) I've been looking around this same area and thought i'd have a look to see how it was doing......can't find any evidence of it what so ever???? Anyone else got a single loose wire....seem to recall it was purple with black stripe but can't really recall. if anyone finds single loose wire can you tell me where it goes? Many thanks. |

Yes
![]() I didn't imagine it!! I learnt the weekend that the aux supply that is mentioned in many posts is a black and a purple cable terminating in a double terminal block. The wire I'm referring to was a single cable that I believe was stripped.....cant for the life of me find it now ? Wish I'd taken a photo of it / mentioned the colour etc? ![]() |

It will have broken off at the edge of the plastic shield that's why you can't see it. Mine too was corroded and as it obviously wasn't used or ruptured any fuses I fitted an insulated butt splice and stuffed it behind the very same panel and have forgotten about it.
FFS....Please don't lose any sleep over it. It is non-functional in both yours and my cases. ![]() Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

No its a single wire. (not the twin job with spades at 90 degrees)
I believe I've been to the docs far more in the last 3 1/5 years than ever before? ...... That's strange - just realised my def is also 3 1/5 years old too. |

Sell it, go on, just sell it, all your Defender non issues will be over, go on just do it, winter is coming so you'll get a good price, go on, you know it makes sense. Steve.

How strange still can't find it
It was outside in wheel arch but I've looked behind speaker too (while looking into do the 12 v socket as per Ericv did). Opened up the split conduit as best I could and still can see any evidence of it (albeit it must be there)? Definitely ![]() |

![]() Trust u r well Steve ? ![]() Might b onto something here.....my woes that have been imagined since day one might be related to dodgy wiring related to the clutch switch (we've heard about brake lights connected to clutch switch etc) well someone in the know spotted something strange in respect of the supply to the clutch switch but due to a lack of time on my part we were unable to pursue the cause. |
