That was the easy bit as it turned out - took me and my friend (who is more mechanically minded) about 15 minutes to adjust the steering.

Taking the seats out on the other hand took a lot longer (although a very straight forward job). I was going to put rubber grommets in all the holes left in the bodywork, but in the end I just decided to put all the screws back in and add nuts, washers and bolts to the four remaining holes. Is this what others have done?

I'm actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow so I can drive my Defender!

2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Santorini Black
My 110 CSW was put on the road in Addis Ababa in early January this year. I got to drive it in March. Turning circle is noteably bad, so some advice regsrding how much it can be improved by these changes would be very much appreciared.

I thought about a sun roof and certainly miss one, but the highlands of Ethiopia have a long and very heavy rainy season ladting for up to 4 months, so opted for less opportunities for the rain to get in!

rear vision is also appaling, so have sourced extra large convex mirror heads from Mud to replace the existing poor efforts. Next thing is a Mantec, or similar swing away rear wheel carrier. Any advice re alternatives would be very much appreciated.

Final initial observation relates to the lack of internal storage space. Again Mud replacement glove boxis on its way to be fitted as well as one of their headlining storage consoles.

as time pases, a roof rack to follow, towing system to tow an off road trailer will be fitted indue course.

car cost me a lot of money, but in my view was worth it. There are 5 of us and it is the family car, so seven forward facing seats are a must. This leaves little room for when we travel across east africa, so rather than overload the car, I have decided that a proper off road camping trailer is the best way forwards for us.

all the very best to all and I look forwards to many years of ownership.

Hope the drive in was good today Smile Try and stop grinning, it'll distract everyone you're working with.

Looks very good; might have to sneak a look at your steering stops if we manage to be in the same place anytime soon. 2009 110 XS Station Wagon

Had a great drive to work this morning only to discover the hard way that my Defender is too tall for the Multi storey car park!!! Big Cry That soon took the grin off my face. Fortunately there were only about three 4 - 5 inch scratches that are not too deep as I was going very slowly. The car park sign said the max height was 21cm more than the LR brochure height for the vehicle to someone is lying.
The car park company has now given me a pass to a different outdoor 1 level car park which is not usually for our company to use thank god else I'd be in a right mess.
Was out and about in it today and I LOVE driving it.
I can't get over how civilised the drive is after such bad press it gets for being so utilitarian. I got two waves :thumbsup

T-Cut and a warm day needed this weekend, sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I agree with your thoughts on the refinement too, the 2.2 is not the quietest diesel engine around but I knew that before I bought it. With a smooth driving style, it just purrs along.

After 6 months I still look forward to getting in it each day. Mr. Green 1970 Series 2A 88"

Ouch! Brand new vehicle .... hardly out of the box and bang! I really feel for you as I've been terrified of doing the same thing for the past few months - along with putting the wrong fuel in it.

I've got a piece of card fitted to the sun visor with the max height, width and length of my 90 in large numbers (both in metric and imperial). I've also been known to eject a passenger to visually check clearances for me (when in doubt).

Sadly I've never been convinced about the accuracy of many car park clearance signs (or for that matter railway bridges either).

Note to all Defender owners - Might also be worth checking the real height of your own Defenders? With different suspension, wheels, tyres, roof racks, aerials, beacons and assorted tat - How many of you know the real height of your own vehicle?

Spoke to the dealer today and they are taking it back next week to do the privacy glass and he said they will sort out the scratches for me thank goodness, as a good will gesture. I must say they are a very good dealership. I have nothing but praise for them so far since I started dealing with them back in the summer last year.

The ironic thing is, I DID get a woman I work with, to meet me at the entrance to the car park to see me in and through the tougher bits and the stupid cow kept waving me through!!!!
Needless to say I wanted to shout at her and throttle her but instead I had to try and make out it wasn't an issue as I sit next to her at work every day all day.

Oh dear, that's a shame. Feel for you. Just for future reference it just happens that the radio aerial when fully extended is a touch taller than the rest of the Defender, so if your aerial twitches - hit the brakes! OK, it's not a hard and fast rule because it's reliant on your aerial being fully extended, but it works for me. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

I bought it (and the Evoque I swapped for it) from Guy Salmon Land Rover in Northampton.
