My mate has one that has done 400k but that’s a TD5. Pumas are obviously a lot more fragile so 200 is good going. WARNING.

My first 110 was at 166k, six years old ( a 1989 ) and was pretty tired. The gearboxes, axles and driveline were all slack, but it had been used for heavy towing. The next was a very low 44k and was lovely and tight. The one after that was sat on 190k but was good, and my current one had 109k before I reconditioned it, but with so many new or rebuilt parts it drives very well although new drive flanges would now be beneficial.

My view is that it all depends on how it was used and how many new parts are on it, along with the quality of those parts. If it feels tight, not slack, then I can’t see the mileage as a problem, but it would depend on what engine I guess. Reading up on here, the newer ones don’t seem to last as well as the older ( td5 / tdi’s ) models.

If my engines last as long as my first I will be on my 5th by then. 😮 🤣
With the Ford lump it really seems to be luck of the draw. WARNING.

Yes, it is hard to explain the variability of engine life.

Rather like adaptor shafts and clutches I suppose.

Suggests shockingly bad QA and QC.

my 2.4 tdci 130 came to me with 72k on it. it had new injectors at 52k miles. Engine(bar the VCV that i changed) was fine no problems.

However, gearbox, transfer box, diffs, shafts and drive flanges all had a fair amount of slack/backlash/crunchyness so i changed the lot. Cheers
