That will be the clutch cylinder. Best to change both, slave and master, as they have both done the same amount of work. The fluid will be brake fluid, so be cautious where it ends up

So am i right in saying this can be replaced (the seal) instead of the whole master cylinder.

For the faff factor alone I would just change the master cylinder for a good quality one.

You can indeed replace just the seal but its a false economy as the bore of the cylinder will be worn causing the new seal to wear rapidly.
