Locking wheel nut - Stuck!
Tried to remove the locking wheel nut to remove the wheel and the locking wheel nut slipped off the nut. Looking at the removal socket and its split.

So any ideas on how to remove the locking wheel nut ? and how do I ID the correct model/type/code for a replacement socket? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Interesting but

"4 x 38mm ½" drive locking wheel nut removers (17, 18.5, 21.5 and 26mm) and a metal storage case."

26mm ? Landy ones are 27mm. 1999 Defender TD5 110

If I understand your problem correctly, the wheel nut with have a letter stamped on it. Just tell the dealer the letter and they'll sell you the right socket. I think, from memory, that there are about 12 variations.

If you have the standard fitment locking wheel nuts there should be a code stamped on the removel tool,your local main dealer will be able to supply a replacement. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Yup as above, there should be a letter stamped.

Apparently dealers sell loads of them as they won't withstand the windy guns/impact wrenches that Kwik Fit etc use and they shatter all the time.

Mine went on my RRS recently. Had to have them drilled out, £160 later all removed Twisted Evil

Lockers had corroded over time so that the security socket was ineffective.

Now don't have locking wheel nuts - much easier. 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top

Same with the wife's D3, my adaptor went missing, I went to see the mechanic's at Stratstone Cheltenham and they gave me one of their spares for free, he said loads of them get "left" behind after work being done (which I suspected happened to mine, until wifie found it in a box she used to remove stuff from car proir to service Rolling Eyes ) Optimists say the glass is half full..
Pessimists say the glass is half empty..
Engineers say the glass is twice the size it needs to be!

Just hammer a very slightly smaller socket on. Worked for me when I bought a 110 with locking nuts but no key, got all five off no problem and threw the stupid things away.
