2004 Defender 110 Td5 CSW Java Black
£7.99 Aerial upgrade.
Okay so my aerial is bent and although I quite fancy an Entreq ones the wallet can't manage it at the moment and I don't like the Rubber Ducky aerials so I came across this in Maplins and thought I'd give it a go.

£7.99 Maplins Car Aerial


Coated in Shrink Wrap to get rid of chrome and shiney plastic and to give uniform look



Bent



Snap off



Put threaded piece in and crimp



Screw on new aerial and push down tight to home


20mins max, £7.99 and no wiring! Radio works fine. Thumbs Up

Will take a better photo in the light.

Cool! I assume the threaded piece you crimped on is a good tight fit, or it could part company at speed.

It's a Land Rover, if at least one part doesn't fall off per journey then it's not working as it should.

It really is simple. As Tiger explained, cut/snap the original off at the last section then screw the threaded bar into the remaining aerial left over. Crimp it with cutters/pliers/crimp tool and screw the new aerial in. Push down flush.

To be honest, the thread took so well inside the original aerial that it didn't need to the crimped but did it anyway. Checked the radio and FM, MW and LW all work perfect. Craig Rogers
