Wheels and tyres again... appreciate opinions.. 16" or
Hi all,
Finally found a v8 to "make my own" - its had a lot of money spend over the years and mechanically is spot on so its really some of the asthetics i want to change.

It has some 16 x 8.5 compomotive wheels (look like the original freestyle to me) with 255 85 16 BFG MT's
It has the Scorpion racing extreme racing suspension and lift with QT6 radius arms, castor correction, dislocation and adjustable panhard rod etc

The wheels look a little dated to me and i really like the look of the SVX style wheels.. so... do i stay 16" and fit something like a 285 75 16 or even a 315 75 16?
or go down the 18" route for improved ride/handling/maybe looks with appropriate AT or MT tyre. Still giving sufficient side wall "bounce" for rocks and curbs. Dont think 20" are for me.. too skinny on a def.

70% road and lanes, occasional off road and hoepfully some snow!

Has a lot of power 350bhp. Smile

Oh what to do?

Also does anyone know where i can get 8 x 16 or 18" SVX style wheels? Seems to be plenty of 7 x 16 but bit tight on putting 285 + on.. although notice in LRM the cover car has 16 x7's with 315's!!?

Thanks

Nick

the suspensions set up for off roading so 16" and the 255's are fine. If you want to change to an 18" then i'd suggest removing the off road suspension and the lift etc and getting a decent fast road set up.

your 255 will fit on SVX rims great. 285s are o aswell but i feel theyre a little over tyred.

350 hp eh! thats some v8 Thumbs Up whats the spec

Cheeky little brand new Corvette LS1 engine with TH400 gearbox, 3 speed quick shift B&C running a Quaife ATB LT 2300T Transfer box Smile sounds pretty good too!

I may keep the current setup (wheels and tyres for off road trips etc) so no plans to change the current suspension setup and i like the look and feel of the way it drives.. I am not looking for a sports car!

I am looking at better road grip in wet, ice, snow than i think i will get with 255 MT's
I am looking for a more modern, agressive but pleasing on the eye look to the car.

I could go wider like 315 AT2's but think i would need the extended arches that i dont like the look of unless you can get moulded black gloss ones? without all the screw/rivet holes.

Cheers

Nick

People have mentioned them in the past... but none have ever been made AFAIK.

Just looks pretty much like a 90 right now... with bigger suspension..Older style WARN winchand bumper and 9.5 HD WARN winch, rock sliders and the 255 85 16 wheels.. most of the work so far is mechanical...
Interior is basic but clean. oh and the exhaust is a little bigger than norm and sounds a little different too! Smile

Let me get my spanners spinning for a few weeks (not that i am very good at that!) then i can try some pics..

New RDX Bonnet coming
New tubular winch bumper
Rear NAS step
LED lighting all round - when i found out which kit i need
Wheels and tyres when i can decide and find what i want
May convert for softop next year, we'll see!
Rear or middle seat for baby.
Some chequer plate
looking at front roll cage/bar/hoop - not sure on name.
I am sure i will expand the list!

Cheers

Thanks mate... trouble is D44 dont appear to sell the 16 x 8

The 18 does exist but have only found one place who might be able to obtain them at around £220 each!!! Brittle Motor Group - ouch!

Both, but not many 18" options and only do the 16 x 7 SVX style Sad

ZU is nice but had that before on my previous depender and was thinking something more up to date. i had Anthrecite / grey which looked great with the black.. but is a possibility.. But would also need hub adapters for the 18's
